Blogging, like writing, to me is about passing knowledge on.
In addition to the tips below there are also links to companies I have a referral relationship with. If you click on the links and make a purchase I will be compensated.
Share Your Knowledge Without Expecting Payment
Yes, it is nice to get paid, but I believe it is important to share things you have learned – without expecting monetary compensation – because everything you do comes back to you threefold.
This is why I do not have a paid, members only section of this site.
Yes, I have books you can buy – and maybe eventually I’ll put together some kind of training session, but even then I will share tips for free with others.
Now that does not mean I will give it all away free, it just means if I can help others I will – and I won’t expect anything in return.
Blogging Is Constantly Changing!
What worked yesterday might not work as well today.
Content is still king but it must be quality content – add in some video and you have a winning mix.
Don’t just shoot some quick video however, learn how to do your best – and shoot high quality footage.
Yes, I know not everyone can view 4K yet, but it won’t be long before they can.
Although the capabilities to easily shoot 4K just came out last year, 8K is already on the market.
Am I going to move up?
No, I am staying at 4K.
That is high quality enough to suit me.
Don’t Put Your Eggs All In One Basket!
Another tip is not to put all your eggs in one basket – because if the handle breaks – well there goes your eggs.
I blog, I vlog, I do social media touting – and still keep my homestead running – somehow.
One of the nicest compliments paid to me was this one –
“You’ve inspired me to keep doing what I’ve wanted to do. Plant, can, and be proud of what I’m doing – even if it means nothing to anyone other than me!” – Dolores Williamson Brister blogger at DealsFromMsDo.com.
Another great compliment comes from Susan Faloon who says “I’ve been ‘online’ acquainted with Sheri for several years. I love the ease of her writing advice, particularly her extreme knowledge of gardening and living life itself. Her down to earth attitude and one on one communication has helped me as a writer and communicator. She makes each of her readers feel like they are friends. Sheri is very real, what you see is what you get. I like that and I’m so thankful to have ‘met’ her. I’ve gleaned a great deal from her. I also appreciate her advice and knowledge about reviewing items. I’ll always treasure her. How many writers have the time to share of themselves with readers?”
Just Think About It
Think about that for a moment.
Are you too busy writing, blogging, vlogging or just living life to share your knowledge with others?
Yes, I am busy, but never too busy to take a moment to help someone else out – online or in person.
Do I sometimes feel overwhelmed?
Sometimes yes – but at the end of the day it is worth it especially when I see comments such as those above.
Here are 5 tips for passing knowledge on –
- Share what you have learned that day with others – in real life or on social media.
- Let others watch how you do things.
- Teach others by letting them do things for themselves with you helping as much as you can without getting in their way.
- Lend a helping hand to others who are trying to do things making sure you share the how and why with them.
- Simply sit back and watch just in case they have a question. If they do, be ready to answer it in a helpful manner.
