How To Get Ready For Your Garden Consultation
Working with another person is often the key to releasing your creative thoughts and drumming up some excitement in your garden. Before setting an appointment with Garden Consultant Sheri Ann Richerson determine the reason why you want a new or updated garden. Do you want to:

• Improve the entry or circulation around the house;
• Improve “Curb Appeal”;
• Create an inviting space for friends and family;
• Make the most of underused or underplanted areas;
• Create a personal space, reflecting your own interests & pleasures.

Then determine the kinds of spaces do you enjoy most. Which do you prefer?

• Natural areas such as a forest or a meadow or
• Manmade areas such as buildings or interiors?

• Do you have any fond memories of childhood gardens that you would like incorporated into your garden?

Being Creative Does Not Mean Forgetting Practicality

• Are there special requirements for mobility such as a wheelchair or garden cart?
• Are there allergies that should be considered?
• How much space do you need for lawn games, children, pets and entertaining?

What natural features are pre-existing on your property and do you want to keep them as they are?

• Do you have existing hardscaping such as fences, paths or walls?
• Is there stone on your property? What about hills and slopes?
• Do you already have a source of moving or standing water?
• What is there in the way of existing plant material and is it new or mature?
• Are there drainage issues or aggressive weeds you need to know how to deal with?
